Join Blue Rain Gallery and the New Mexico Glass Alliance for a special artist lecture with glass artist Spooner Marcus.
Spooner Marcus (Ohkay Owingeh) is a contemporary Native glass artist whose work blends the traditions of Pueblo ceramic forms with the expressive possibilities of studio glass. Beginning his glassblowing career in 1993, Marcus developed a deep connection to the craft, initially working as a production glassblower before expanding his practice to explore glass as a powerful form of artistic expression.
Drawing inspiration from the ceramic traditions of his Pueblo heritage as well as the landscapes of the Southwest, Marcus creates sculptural glass vessels that balance tradition with experimentation. His evolving body of work reflects the deserts, flora, fauna, and shifting light of the region, capturing a sense of place while honoring cultural influences and the enduring beauty of the natural world.
